Step 4
Monument Shape
Deciding the shape and size of your monument is a great start if you're not sure exactly what you're looking for. Throughout our site you will notice different monument shapes. Our Standard monuments come in 6 different styles. Flush, Bevel, Slant, Upright, Benches, and Special Shapes. Be sure to check with your cemetery for any monument shape or size restrictions. If you have any questions with this step, please give us a call.
Step 1
Granite Color
Granite comes in a wide variety of colors. Color can have a significant impact on price. Although Black and Grey granite both have tremendous durability, Grey granite is typically the most affordable option. You can view several popular color options in the Monuments & Design section of our website.
Step 2
Design
After you have selected the shape and color of your stone, it is time to choose a design. At The Modern Monument we specialize in
working directly with each family to provide that perfect
representation of your loved one.
Step 3
Foundation
Every Monument requires a level foundation. And every cemetery has a fee that they require you to pay for that foundation. Some cemeteries will provide this service for as little as 50 cents a square inch or less. Others demand an exorbitant price. The regional average is around 70 cents a square inch. At The Modern Monument we will work with your cemetery representative to ensure your monument receives a proper foundation.
For those who are unable or do not wish to travel to purchase a monument, we do offer scheduled house calls. Please call our office at (937) 490-9467 if you wish to discuss this option.
